January Update

Just wanted to let you guys know we’re still here, in case anyone was worried we dropped off the planet. I’m currently shopping around and talking to some savvy friends and family members who’re helping me find a good accountant. This is important for tax purposes, as well as being able to pay Crimson each month without the exchange rate butchering our funds, and to make sure we can use as much money as possible that we get in the future, too.

The Indiegogo money itself has transferred fine and on time, and is stowed safely away. Crimson’s been looking around for any assets and tools he thinks we’ll need so I can plan for those expenses, while myself and Stereo are doing our best to get outstanding commissions done so we don’t have any other obligations once development begins. As I said before, there’s just legwork to get done right now so nothing juicy to update with, but worry not. We’re still on schedule to start in earnest at the end of the month. Everything’s set to get going, it just needs the boring business stuff done right so we don’t run into problems later on.

It’s pretty frustrating as we’re all itching to get started on Carnal Souls, but again, it’s important to get the groundwork done right. Don’t want to start this thing by cutting corners. So yeah, not really much of an update as it’s pretty much the same stuff I wrote on the last post, but just touching base so you guys know we haven’t run off.

It is great to hear that you are all ok and stuff. Here’s hoping you find an accountant that soon and one that can do what you want 🙂

    Also yay for eagerness <3

Well, boring business stuff is the part that needs to be done right the first time, so take all the time that is needed to get it done right. Make sure your company is going to be able to withstand the snooping of the taxman and all that. Glad to hear that you all are doing alright. And from the two times I said “I wonder if I could make a game?” and sat down to figure out what it would take to do so, I know that assets and accounting can kill you if they aren’t done right, and they scared me off.
Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

Currently playing CoC and I’ve noticed a few things that I liked/disliked and thought it might be worth mentioning here (maybe get a discussion going?)

I really like the fact that you have multiple options during fights, none of which are deadly. That gives the player more choice – imho I’d really love to see more games where you don’t have to kill anything that moves – after all scaring enemies off should be a viable tactic 😉 The possibility to seduce enemies and beat them that way without physically harming them is pretty neat.

I really love that about CoC and I’d love to see similar options in CS.

What bothers me a bit in CoC is that in conversation with NPCs you often only have two choices – either have/persue sex or ignore the NPC alltogether. I’d love to see a little more middle ground. Sexy stuff should be a big part of the game – but in CoC it’s almost a little too much imho. I mean it’s great to have a lot of content of that sort – but when you meet an NPC and you are either forced to have sex or say “Bugger off – I don’t ever want to see you again” then that’s a little limiting for role-playing…

As for the update: Take as much time as you need. A great game is worth way more than kept deadlines 😉 Also kudos for approaching the whole project methodically 🙂

That i can agree on with CoC, tis a tiny bit to focused on the “horndog or no-dog”.

      • I feel like that’s kinda the point of CoC though, it’s more or less a porn game for the sake of having the possibility to fulfill many many peoples wants they might find difficult to fulfill other places, with a story taped onto it
